Frit Anti-Dumping Investigation An investigation into the alleged dumping of frit originating in or imported from Brazil has been initiated following an application by Ferro Industrial Products (Pty) Ltd, the major producer of the product in the Southern African Customs Union (Sacu). Clear Float Glass Sunset Review Investigation A sunset review investigation of the anti-dumping duties on clear float glass originating in or imported from Indonesia has been initiated following an application by PFG Building Glass (Pty) Ltd, the sole producer of the product in Sacu. Unframed Mirrors Sunset Review Investigation A sunset review investigation of the anti-dumping duties on unframed mirrors originating in or imported from Indonesia has been initiated following an application by PFG Building Glass (Pty) Ltd, the sole producer of the product in SACU. Screw Studding Anti- Dumping Investigation An investigation into the alleged dumping of screw studding (rods threaded throughout) of steel and of stainless steel (commonly known as threaded rod) originating in or imported from the People’s Republic of China has been initiated following an application by the South African Fasteners Manufacturers’ Association (SAFMA) on behalf of the Sacu industry. Comments by 31 Oct 2011. Pistons Tariff Investigation An investigation into the proposed reduction in the rate of customs duty on pistons, with an outside diameter not exceeding 155mm, whether or not fitted with gudgeon pins, piston rings or cylinder lines or sleeves, for motor vehicle engines has been initiated following an application of Masterparts (Pty) Ltd. Comments by 21 Oct 2011. Computer Monitors Tariff Investigation An extensive investigation has been initiated by the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (Itac) into the creation of Rebate Items for parts for computer monitors (completely knocked down, and semi-knocked down), and the creation of a new tariff subheading for display panels. Comments by 07 Oct 2011. Agricultural Market Access Permits An application for market access permits for agricultural products has been published. All interested parties are invited to make application for import quotas (for the period 01 January 2012 to 30 April 2012), by no later than 21 October 2011. 93 Days to HS2012 In this article we focus on the tariff amendments to Section XIII which refers to “Articles of Stone, Plaster, Cement, Asbestos, Mica or Similar Materials; Ceramic Products; Glass and Glassware”. Section XIII consists of three tariff chapters. Tariff Chapter 68 – Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials; Tariff Chapter 69 – Ceramic products; and Tariff Chapter 70 – Glass and glassware. The first section deals with tariff subheadings to be deleted. Only tariff subheading 6811.83 is affected. The second section deals with tariff subheadings to be created (new). No tariff subheading is affected. The third section deals with tariff subheadings whose scope will be modified. Only tariff subheading 6811.89 is affected.
