THE ANNUAL international conference of the Women's International Shipping and Trade Association (WISTA) is to be held in Durban on October 8-10 next year. "We are expecting 150 delegates at the conference," said Keren Giladi of Dudula Shipping, president of the SA branch of the association. Apart from the local contingent, these delegates come from the US, UK, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Nigeria, Portugal and Spain. During the conference, one day will be allocated to a chosen list of speakers, followed in the afternoon by a series of workshops on shipping-related topics relevant to association members. Invitations will be sent out in July/August and will be issued to the attendees at this year's annual conference in Norway by the SA contingent. Local membership of WISTA is now 35, with plans to attract other members at launch functions in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
