Driving gender equity in freight industry

A total of 120 freight professionals, 300 related entrepreneurs, and 495 truck drivers from South Africa’s logistics industry stand to benefit from an upliftment initiative with one goal in mind – establishing much-improved gender equity in a male-dominated sector.

The initiative, funded by the US Agency for international Aid Development and steered by the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA), will run over three years and was launched last week.

According to CTA CEO Nicci Scott, the “Women Inspiring Women to Lead in Transport” initiative aims to pass on skills and specialisation to transport professionals, entrepreneurs and drivers through the three respective programmes called “CTA Excellence, Run with It, and Iron Women”.
