Distell to market Scotch distiller brands in Africa

SOUTH AFRICA’S Distell has entered into a joint venture with Scotch distiller Burns Stewart which will see the group marketing three of the Burns Stiller brands in sub-Saharan Africa. Distell has established strong distribution networks in sub-Saharan Africa, according to a spokesman. “Many of the Distell trademarks have achieved dominance in such countries as K enya, Tanzania and Mauritius, the group posting a 16.3% increase in revenue from African countries for the six months ending December 3l, 2006, and a sales volume growth of 10.5%," the spokesman said.
