Despite high growth sub-Saharan states “uncompetitive”

Despite an impressive growth averaging more than 5% annually since the turn of the century, sub-Saharan Africa’s economies remain largely uncompetitive, said the World Economic Forum (WEF).

According to its report, only three sub-Saharan countries rank in the top half of the 2015-2016 edition of the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI). They are Mauritius, 46^th; South Africa, 49^th; and Rwanda 58^th.
