CARGO AGENTS can now create and submit electronic shipping orders and shipping instructions to their carriers using a PC thanks to the launch by e-commerce platform INTTRA of its Desktop Shipping Order 1.0 for cargo agents. INTTRA enables all shippers and forwarders to reach all carriers, including those who are not members of INTTRA’s connected network. The introduction of Desktop Shipping Order follows the launch of its industry-standard Shipping Order for INTTRA Link customers in China last year. “From the initial release of Shipping Order in January of 2006, the number of containers processed in the region increased by more than 260%, signifying the value of e-commerce for streamlining transaction processes between cargo agents and their carriers,” said Charles Rowe, INTTRA’s product manager, Desktop Solutions “It is very important for organisations doing business globally to have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with their shipping partners. With Desktop SO and INTTRA’s industry-standard shipping order message, cargo agents and carriers can all receive and share the information they need in the format their systems can use.”
