JUNE 3 will see the launch by Delta Airlines of a Cape Town - New York service operating four times a week via Dakar. “There’s been huge demand from the industry,” says Anne Sanders of general sales agents GSAfrica. The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays leaving at 18:00 and arriving at JFK at 06:00. “It’s the only overnight flight from Cape Town to the US and is an excellent option for fish and flowers,” said Sanders. Bronwyn Cunningham, previously of Lufthansa and PCA, has been appointed to set up GSA Africa's Cape Town office. She will be responsible for Cape Town, East London and Port Elizabeth, marketing Delta and Thai Airways, which is also in the GSAfrica stable.
