ALAN PEAT THE WARNING that there are continuing breaches of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) international maritime dangerous goods (IMDG) code covering the carriage of hazardous products has to be taken seriously, according to Roland Raath, MD of Cargocare. This came from the TT Club - a mutual insurance provider for the transport industry – which has just expressed renewed concern over the requirement for correct and proper handling of dangerous goods cargo. There are liability and insurance implications for any breach of the code – with the TT Club highlighting the risk that the person responsible for causing or allowing a breach of the IMDG code will be held liable for all that follows.
