OBITUARY Well-known industry personality Dagmar de Beer passed away suddenly last week. A dynamic go-getter, she was involved in the shipping industry for most of her working life, initially with ALS Agencies and Rennies Shipping and later at Mediterranean Shipping Company where she held the dual role of sales development manager and in-house skills training officer. She joined the FTW sales team in 1997 and achieved enormous success selling advertising in both FTW and FTW Online. In 2006 she left to start her own marketing business. For the past seven years she has been closely involved in the marketing of Bidair Cargo and last month travelled to Thailand for the annual meeting of the management team. She was a people’s person with a larger-thanlife personality and an enormous zest for life. She is survived by her son Mitchell.
