Zimbabwe's customs department is adamant about refusing to allow clearance of air cargo in Bulawayo. The department brought in the rule a month ago, ordering all consignments to be cleared in Harare, following alleged abuse by airlines.
In a letter to the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe, the director of customs, Ranga Munyaradzi, says there is no chance of the rule being rescinded.
Says an official of the Shipping Association :
It seems that for the moment at least there is nothing we can do.
