THE LATEST industrial action by Brazil’s customs officials is crippling cargo movement in that country. This protest action in support of salary claims is ongoing, Safcor Panalpina told FTW – and there are serious delays in cargo movements from go-slow actions and strikes at all the country’s ports and other customs facilities. According to Brazilian sources in the international forwarding major, import and export cargoes stopped for examination are being severely affected. Delays range from five to thirty days.
