KEVIN MAYHEW BUSINESS AT Beitbridge has been brisk in the past year and things are looking up for 2006, says the managing director of Beitbridge Border Clearing Agency, Brian Kalshoven. He says that there is a lot of movement of fuel over the border but imports from Zimbabwe have dropped off due to the country’s economic problems. “A major problem we have is with Customs repeatedly asking us for the same RIT and WH acquittals, despite their having been previously accepted, which leads to many of our staff being committed to that task, instead of the day-to-day clearing,” he says.
