The Port of Cape Town is on
track to introduce two brand
new ship-to-shore cranes at
the container terminal by
the end of August.
The port received the two
cranes earlier this year as
part of ongoing investment
into equipment by port
authorities and is currently
in the process of erecting
them.
Haulers and trailers that
will back up the two cranes
are also expected to be
delivered on time – although
slightly later than the two
cranes.
With the introduction
of the two new cranes the
container terminal will offer
eight ship-to-shore cranes
with a total of 106 haulers
and trailers operating across
four berths along a 1.3km
quay.
This is expected to
improve productivity at the
port significantly in the
coming months.
