CT port targets ship repair

The Port of Cape Town is set to establish itself as one of the top ship repair yards in the region. That was the message from Magenthran Ruthenavelu, Cape Town port engineer, who told FTW ship repair had been identified as a prime revenue source. It’s an area that has not been given much attention in the past and as a result facilities have deteriorated, he said. “In fact, a few years ago a public process to concession the ship repair facilities was started, but this has been brought to a halt following the decision by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to not only retain them, but also upgrade them and drive them into the future.” CAPTION Magenthran Ruthenavelu … ‘building a foundation for creating and managing port assets.’
