HEAVY SEAS around the Cape coast recently forced the six star-rated super luxury cruise ship Silver Wind to return to Durban, barely 18 hours after she had sailed.

The vessel, with 210 passengers on board, was heading for Cape Town with ports of call at East London, Port Elizabeth and Mossel Bay. Her cruise began in Mombasa, and heavy seas in the Mozambique channel had already resulted in a port call at Madagascar being cancelled.

The ship's master, Captain Antonio di Palma, said that the safety, comfort and convenience of his passengers were always the highest priority. Passengers were flown to Cape Town.
