RAY SMUTS THE POINT that hit home for Janeen Stannius was finance minister Trevor Manuel’s observation during his recent budget speech that South Africans simply have to save more and make do with less credit. So much so that Stannius, managing member of Cape Town-based Kiwi Freight Services, has placed at the top of her agenda the need to heed the minister’s plea by applying diligence in effecting savings for her client base. “My objective is to source the most cost-effective and efficient transporter for our clients,” says Stannius, who formed Kiwi some 11 years ago – the name inspired by her marriage to New Zealander, Mark. Kiwi Freight Services specialises in transport management – domestic distribution, cross border and international freight. A former ‘Salesperson of the Year’ at Safcor Freight, now Safcor Panalpina, where she spent more than five years, she makes it her business to source the appropriate vehicle for the specific load.
