Contract staff option gains momentum

CLIVE EMDON HANDLING THE job selection and weekly and monthly payments of almost 4 000 trained and experienced workers in a wide variety of fields is all in a day’s work for Edenvalebased labour broking company Staff-at-a-click. “We specialise in drivers, pickers and packers and the more specialised data capturers, checkers and forklift drivers,” says marketing and advertising manager Sonri Jamneck. “Our business is in helping clients to find contract staff on a temporary or contract basis.” The company’s staff data management system handles the employment of 750 drivers, 150 merchandisers, 250 cashiers, 700 scanners, 8 00 packers and 500 pickers as well as 700 general workers. The concept of staff outsourcing is gathering momentum, says Jamneck, with more companies seeing the advantages of providing flexible solutions to manpower management and a tighter control of costs. As the employer, Staffat- a-Click is responsible for the payment of bonuses, leave pay and notice pay to all contracted staff as determined by legislation. It has eliminated the need for clients to establish monthly or weekly payrolls or wages. The company has developed a method of profiling its 750 drivers by testing and screening them. “We set the highest recruitment standards in the labour broking industry," she said.
