Conti launches West Africa service

NEXT MONTH sees the launch by Conti Lines of Antwerp of a monthly breakbulk service linking South African ports with the West African ports of Lagos, Tema and Abidjan, with others on inducement.
Conti will run the service in partnership with GMT, its associate in Lagos and Tema for existing services out of Europe into West Africa.
The new service will cater for steels, paper, drummed and bagged cargoes as well as shipper-owned containers.
The vessels will begin loading in India, calling at Durban before proceeding to West Africa. The Al Fujairah will initiate the service at the end of August, followed by the Salah Al Deen at the end of September.
Both are 23 000 ton deadweight with five hatches and heavy lift facilities up to 100 tons.
Conti is known to local shippers for its CSAL service to Europe. Conti Africa operates out of Europe to East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands via South Africa.
