Qatar’s Hamad Port will become fully operational on December 1 (Thursday) while Doha Port winds down.
Qatar Ports Management Company announced that Hamad Port would formally handle commercial shipments entering and leaving the country from the date of operation; thus all container ships will be directed to the new US$7.5-billion port in Umm Al-Houl, near Mesaieed.
As per the port authorities, any cargo or containers that remain at Doha port for more than 30 days beyond the specified dates will be transferred to an auction committee from 1 January 2017.
