Coca-Cola launches logistics initiative in SA

South Africa’s largest distributor of non-alcoholic carbonated soft drinks has launched an initiative aimed at entrepreneurs who can independently manage warehouse and domestic transport operations within defined territories.

The initiative is by Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), who has about 31.8% market share according to data by GeoScope SA.

According to SA Business Integrator, the roll-out forms part of CCBSA’s strategy to strengthen in-market execution and maintain service consistency at scale.

The site reports that the focus was on operational strength and local expertise, said Kooglan Naidu, country lead for traditional trade.

“We are seeking dynamic entrepreneurs with local knowledge and operational experience who can help grow Coca-Cola’s reach and maintain service standards across the value chain.”

Applicants must demonstrate proven entrepreneurial experience, strong understanding of the local market, relevant industry knowledge and experience operating articulated trucks.

They are also expected to meet specific infrastructure requirements.

These include ownership of a minimum fleet of five delivery trucks, and access to a warehouse measuring at least 1 000 square metres.

These requirements ensure partners can manage high-volume distribution while meeting Coca-Cola’s operational and service benchmarks.

Applicants must apply through the CCBSA, and clearly state their territory of operation.
