Zambia’s three associations
representing the clearing and
forwarding industry have
joined forces to develop and
offer an on-line Advanced
Certificate in Customs
Clearing.
The associations are
the Zambia Freight
Forwarders’ Association –
Zaffa; Customs Clearing
Freight Forwarding Agents
Association of Zambia –
CCFFAAZ; and Zambia
Customs & Forwarding
Agents Association –
ZCFAA.
Managed by the Zambia
Centre for Accountancy
Studies (ZCAS), the course
is web-based to enable
clearing agents throughout
the country to upgrade
their skills and bone up
on Zambia’s customs
requirements to successfully
move cargo in and out of the
country, says Valerie Sesia,
chairperson of the ZCFFA,
which was instrumental in
developing the course.
It is also available to
staff in the clearing and
forwarding industry in the
rest of the region.
The target group is those
already employed in the
supply/logistics chain,
employees of freight
forwarding companies,
and those wanting to make
a career in the industry,
according to the ZCAS.
Starting twice a year
– in June and December
– the course work can be
covered in seven modules.
Candidates can work at their
own pace, with lectures in
Lusaka prior to the exams.
The final examinations are
a combination of the on-line
course work assignments
and set written examinations
which will be held in
Lusaka.
