CFR set to roll out new airfreight products

On the back of sustained growth in its airfreight consolidation product, independent groupage operator CFR Freight is set to expand its portfolio. In South Africa recently to touch base with local customers and announce the roll-out of several new products was Christos Spyrou who heads up CFR’s Chinabased partner agency Shipco Airfreight as well as the company’s global network, the AirCargo Group. “From this month we are doubling our weekly service from Hong Kong and Shanghai to Johannesburg/CT to a bi-weekly frequency and will also be introducing options from Beijing, Guangzhou, Taipei and South Korea,” Spyrou told FTW. “We will be securing further block space agreements with strategic airlines to support this development.” The company is also set to build up its airport to door product from South Africa to Asia. “Effectively we’re trying to simplify the process for our customers,” said Spyrou, “providing one price per kilo. This makes it easier for freight forwarders to quote their customers.” And Spyrou believes that this is the way to go, with several freight forwarders tuning into the benefits of outsourcing. In a separate development, CFR will also be looking at adding a Chine door-toairport small parcel service to its service bouquet. “In conjunction with CFR we will be focusing on cargo in the 0-50kg range, catering for samples and economy courier solutions,” he said.
