Carrier responds to SOS call

The logistics industry rallied
to the aid of displaced
communities after the
devastating Western Cape
floods and fires earlier this
month, among them Airlink
Cargo which flew out 1 123
kilograms of clothing, water,
food, pet food and blankets
donated by 600 members of
the Skukuza community.
Karen McDulling, airport
manager at the Skukuza
Airport Management
Company, told FTW that
airport and Airlink staff had
volunteered their services,
working through the night
to pack 114 boxes, sorting
items and labelling them
ahead of the flight that
left Skukuza for George
the weekend after the fires
had started. DHL Express
transported the cargo from
the airport via road to the
Knysna joint operations
centre set up by Gift of the
Givers.
