Ghanaian start-up company
Swiftly has launched a
‘cargo sharing’ app – much
like Uber’s ride-sharing app
– that matches shippers who
have goods to move with
transporters who have spare
space in their air-, sea- or
roadfreight containers.
“The shippers who
collaborate in this ecofriendly
manner will share
the cost of the shipment, with
each party benefiting. Freight
forwarders who do cargo
consolidation will also benefit
greatly, as we market their
business for them,” said Swiftly
CEO Edem Dotse.
The application – which can
be used on a mobile device –
helps make shipping costs more
affordable and takes the hassle
out of transporting cargo and
preparing shipping documents
for its users,” said Dotse.
The app is free for users
who get matched on Swiftly,
although freight forwarders pay
a fee to be part of the service.
