RAY SMUTS THE CONTAINER ship Atlantic Project was delayed for about five hours on Monday (October 17) due to the unavailability of cranes at the Cape Town container terminal. The terminal has six cranes, two of which were working the MSC Gina, three the MSC Rafaella and the sixth the Kota Ganteng. The Atlantic Project arrived off Cape Town at 0500 and was due to sail at 1800 after loading 150 containers and discharging five. Container terminal planning manager David Davids said the terminal promised to be considerably busier than usual, handling 10 000 incoming and outgoing boxes between Monday and Friday, compared to 7 000 or 8 000 a week.
