Thanks to a major slump in

demand, just under three

quarters (73%) of local

manufacturers described

business conditions as either

“poor” or “fragile” during

the second quarter of 2015,

compared to 67% in the

same period last year.

These were some

of the findings of the

Manufacturing Circle’s

Quarterly Review (Q2 2015)

of manufacturing business

conditions which was

launched in Johannesburg

last week.

Speaking to FTW

after the launch,

executive director of the

Manufacturing Circle,

Coenraad Bezuidenhout,

said that manufacturers’

main concern was Eskom’s

ongoing inability to keep up

with South Africa’s energy

demands.
