Bursaries in maritime studies to be announced

SA’s major shipping and logistics group, Grindrod, has committed to playing a role in the department of transport’s Maritime Week 2015 to be held next week at Richards Bay.

It has a special interest in this year’s theme, ‘Maritime education and training’.  To be announced during Maritime Week will be that Grindrod and Sturrock Grindrod Maritime intend to provide four bursaries to disadvantaged students. This will be to study a one-year diploma in maritime studies at Durban University of Technology or Cape Technikon.

Grindrod has supported the Maritime Week over the years by participating in career exhibitions, providing information on the maritime sector through presentations, displays, information packs and engaging one-on-one with the learners and educators on opportunities available in this sector. It aims to do the same this year.
