THE STORM clouds have lifted and sunlight appears to be shining through. That’s the positive outlook from SAA Cargo route manager Sam Ndlovu who is confident that most quantitative indicators around the world now point upward. “Imports are booming and despite difficult trading conditions in South Africa, even exports are on the increase with a 10% market growth in fruit exports in 2004,” he told FTW. “Even before the September 11 terrorist attacks, airline demand and yields were softening considerably after the boom years of the 1990s,” he said. “But now economic growth is accelerating in the United States, Japan and most parts of Europe.”
