has been served from
Johannesburg,” said Gerd

New hub could force
Heathrow closure
London Heathrow
Airport will need
to close if the UK
government decides
to build a new estuary
airport or to make
Gatwick the UK’s major
hub, according to a
transport think tank.
The Independent
Transport Commission
(ITC) said that the UK
needed a major capacity
airport to compete with
European continental
rivals and that the
closure of Heathrow
would be needed to
convince investors that
carriers would move to
the new hub.

squeezed

eight largest airports
will be near impossible,
a member of Brazil’s
antitrust regulator, Cade,
said.

SIA parks another
freighter
The cargo arm of
Singapore Airlines will
store a second Boeing
747-400 freighter aircraft
as a result of continued
over-capacity in the air
cargo market.
The aircraft will be
parked at Victorville,
California from June
2013 until May 2014,
leaving SIA Cargo with
11 B747-400s.
