Namibia’s decision to target Brazilian exporters into Africa is starting to pay off, according to Agnetha Mouton of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG). The corridor group opened a Sao Paolo office in November 2012 in line with the Namibian government’s South American strategy. According to Mouton, Walvis Bay is becoming a preferred African gateway for Brazilian importers and exporters because it can offer a seven-days sailing from Sao Paolo, if served with a direct call, and the landward links along the corridors offer safe and cost-effective access to the regional markets and suppliers.
