The Botswana Freight Forwarders’
Association (BFFA) has some
serious challenges to overcome,
says its chairman Oduetse ‘Od’
Makgane.
“We still don’t have a secretariat
and it is important for the BFFA
to have an independent body for
it to function properly,” he told
FTW. “We also need premises
from which to operate that are
neutral and not associated with one
company.”
Makgane, who has been
chairman since the inception of the
organisation, is employed by Zebra
Shipping and uses his office at the
company for his BFFA activities.
“It is not ideal and often leads
to more issues. More knowledge
exchange with freight associations
in other countries would go a long
way to improving the situation.”
According to Makgane, elections
will be held before the end of the
year to choose a new executive
office for the BFFA which
currently has some 30 members.
