Harare-based clearing and forwarding company Cilo Freight has opened its own bonded and general warehouses in Harare. There is a total of over 400 sqm of warehousing space, says managing director Juren Mtemeli. The bonded warehouse is already highly secure as it was previously used by a liquor distributor. “It has given us the opportunity to widen our services and to cater for new clients. A lot of clients for whom we do clearing have asked us to provide bonded warehousing as well,” says Mtemeli. Holding goods in bond helps ease cash flow in a country where liquidity is currently one of the biggest challenges facing business across the board. “It means that companies do not have to clear a whole container of imports at a time but can draw them out of the warehouse as needed,” he says.
