Blessington moves into Hamburg Sud hot seat

JOHN BLESSINGTON has been appointed general manager in South Africa of Hamburg Sud responsible for South, West and East Africa. He is based at head office in Durban. After joining the company 15 years ago, he was based in Peru, Chile and for the past five years in Argentina. He relocated to South Africa in July this year following the acquisition of Kien Hung Line. His immediate goal is to consolidate operations and grow the business. Hamburg Sud’s South African services operate between Asia and the South American East Coast via South Africa as well as on the South Africa - West Africa route. A future objective will be to grow the company’s involvement in reefer traffic.
