ADDING IMPETUS to its drive for a stronger foothold in the African market, Birkart Globistics last week signed an agency agreement with JM Freight Services of Kampala, Uganda. The agreement will initially cover East Africa, according to John Oswala, JM Freight’s MD. “For us it’s a breakthrough in providing access to a world-wide network.” JM Freight is currently involved in two major projects in Kenya and Tanzania for Coca Cola. The company employs 23 people in Uganda and Kenya focusing mainly on corporates, with a client base that includes the breweries and Uganda Telecom “We tend to want to run our own offices internationally but will go for ‘local heroes’ in cases where we sign on agencies,” said outgoing Birkart Globistics group CEO, Michael Villinger.
