GLOBAL RESOURCES group BHP-Billiton has confirmed that it is considering building a $1,75-billion (R20,3billion) aluminium anchor project in the Coega industrial development zone. According to reports from Johannesburg, officials from the company have been in discussions with the trade and industry department and with Coega officials about the possibility of building a two-phased aluminium smelter similar to the Mozal I and II twin development in Mozambique.
