WE ARE still trying to confirm details of a reported surcharge being applied to cargoes travelling in either direction along the Harare-Beira Corridor. FTW has been told that a surcharge of US$5 per 20-foot container and US$10 per 40-ft - with a separate charge being levied on breakbulk consignments - has been imposed. This money is intended, said our source, to fund the necessary activities of the Beira Corridor Group (BCG).
