BEE warehousing partnership is born

DURBAN-BASED Shipping Consolidated Holdings has, in the words of MD Bill Benson, been transformed into a “real black empowerment warehousing and shipping partnership” following major restructuring to become a division of African Heritage Investments.
He describes the new partner as a broad-based black empowerment company with multi-faceted interests including agro-industry, commodity, financial services, travel and insurance.
African Heritage Investments, says Benson, is a 100% African Heritage Trust with African Heritage Society as its dominant beneficiary, and a non-profit organisation dedicated to pursuing a variety of objectives. These range from providing enterprising individuals, scholars and business organisations with a platform for mutual dialogue as part of the African Renaissance philosophy to co-operating and interacting with government and state-owned enterprises in the development of broad-based empowerment of historically disadvantaged individuals.
“Given all the political and economic changes in South Africa, AHI wishes to consolidate its wealth of experience in running investment-diverse areas, taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the South African government on broad-based economic empowerment, and promoting sustainable economic development through Nepad on this continent, “ says Benson.
