FOUR YEARS of phenomenal growth have culminated in a further accolade for Access Warehousing - ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management accreditation achieved in August this year.
Demand for good quality warehousing and a commitment to a strategy based on sound quality management systems are the cornerstones of the company’s success, in the view of director Garth Loudon.
“Our mission is to supply warehousing services as a value adding business process that makes Access Warehousing a leading partner in logistic solutions.”
Part of The Access Group, Access Warehousing provides warehousing services in Durban and Johannesburg to a wide customer base of international clearing and forwarding agents, importers and exporters. The Group comprises Access Warehousing, Access Freight and Access Vehicle Distributors.
“Growth has come from a wide scope of specialised warehousing services including tobacco, plate glass, FMCGs, ground nuts, motor vehicles and project cargo. Our Durban warehouse has recorded the highest growth, processing over 1000 TEUs of cargo per month. We expect this to continue with many of our customers taking advantage of the cost savings of unpacking in Durban to avoid the empty container turn-in cost in Johannesburg,” says Loudon.
The head office warehousing complex, situated off Edwin Swales Drive in Durban, is located within the 5 km zone for the Durban container depot. Additional services include cross-haul to and from the container depot.
The company is increasing its bonded facilities to 1500 vehicles to meet the demand for new vehicle imports and Access Vehicle Distributors, which is an internet-based vehicle sales and distribution business distributing second hand Japanese vehicles to all SADC destinations. It uses dedicated car carriers and bond stores throughout the region allowing for control and timeous delivery of a range of vehicles, from sedans to abnormal dump trucks.
