BEE rating brings big benefits to small companies

The success of operating a small company lies in Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) as it is the way of the future, says Thaven Naidoo, managing director of JTR Freight Services. Offering comprehensive logistics and freight solutions to its clients, the company has a BEE rating of Level 3. “The decision to become BEE accredited has benefited us significantly,” says Naidoo. “We are a small business entity and to remain viable one has to deal with larger companies who require BEE accreditation. It therefore makes sense to ensure you are compliant from a business perspective but also from an ethical point of view. Naidoo says the advantages of BEE accreditation are endless as it is without doubt the way forward for any business in South Africa. With plans under way to improve its current rating, Naidoo says it is important to ensure BEE is implemented correctly. “You can’t cut corners in the implementation of BEE. We are committed to the process and goals of what BEE wants to achieve across the country and to enable that every company, regardless of size, needs to be correct and proper in the way they handle their status.”
