Bad signs for Zambian economy in 2016

Hit by record lows in global copper prices, a serious shortage of electricity and a stuttering currency, Zambia’s growth rate is forecast to drop below 4% in 2016 according to the World Bank.

However, it added that growth is likely to recover somewhat in 2017 and 2018, the bank added.

The Zambian government, meantime, is predicting growth of 4.6% this year.
