Aviation training agreement

A recent agreement should enable South Africa to take a leading role in promoting aviation in Africa. The agreement, between the South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA), aims to facilitate the co-ordination, regulation and recognition of training as well as qualifications for aviation in line with national and international standards. In a statement, TETA said it promoted a coherent and effective quality assurance system for education and training in the aviation industry to clarify the way the two bodies would co-operate, co-ordinate their functions and promote the consistency of their respective quality assurance policies and procedures. The statement adds that creating a foundation for high-level competency and standards in aviation skills potentially positions the country as an exporter of skills to the continent.
