The Angolan government has spent over US$600-million on building three roads in Luanda, as part of the programme to rebuild basic roads in the country’s capital, the minister for Urbanism and Construction, Fernando Fonseca said. The mainly foreign funded Gamek/Antigo Controlo road, the Viana/Cabolombo highway and the Viana/Cacuaco highway, help to link industrial hubs around the city of Luanda and new urban areas and are thus strategically and economically important, reports macauhub. The Gamek/Antigo Controlo (Golfe Road) is 20.6-kilometres long and is one of the main roads linking some neighbourhoods such as Palanca, Benfica, Talatona, Viana, amongst others. The Viana/Cabolombo highway is 33-kms long, and the Viana/Cacuaco highway is 20.57-kms. The project’s contractor was Brazilian construction company Queiroz Galvão.
