Airlink to focus on interline services

In line with a new strategy to grow its Africa business, Airlink Cargo has embarked on an aggressive campaign to market its interline services to international destinations. Currently volumes from Antananarivo into South Africa are doing extremely well,” executive manager Alwyn Rautenbach told FTW. “But most of the other routes are fairly static and there’s the problem of one-way traffic. The goal is therefore to try to stimulate the market by offering direct access to international destinations.” The company is planning to expand its interline agreements with other airlines to offer more of a market from southern African airports to Europe, America, the East and anywhere in the world. “We have a number of interline agreements with various carriers but haven’t marketed these effectively so the aim is to create an awareness that we’re not only offering a service to and from Johannesburg – but rather to anywhere in the world.” “The more options we have for our customers the better – but the challenge is to sell those services and to create industry awareness in Africa.” INSERT & CAPTION The goal is to try to stimulate the market by offering direct access to international destinations. – Alwyn Rautenbach
