The weighted average airfreight rate on cargoes above 1 000 kg for 21 key east-west trades increased to US$3.22/kg from US $3.06/kg in August, according to the latest data from independent maritime advisor, Drewry.
Despite rates improving, the results still fall behind the 2014 levels, Drewry said.
During October and November Drewry expects air freight pricing to strengthen further as the end-of-year peak season will boost short-term demand.
In September last year, rates stood at US$3.76/kg and reached a high of US$3.92/kg in November.
