Big demand from mining, telecoms AIRFREIGHT capacity to meet the growing demand for the movement of mining equipment, big machinery and outsize cargo has become a lot more accessible thanks to the launch late last year of Soviet Air Charter. The Johannesburg-based operation, headed up by Russian-born professional pilot Evgueny Zakharov, has a fleet of Ilyushin 76 and Antonov 12 aircraft, with an Antonov 124 available where required. The company specialises in the movement of outsize cargo to the Middle East and Africa and has already found lucrative markets in the telecommunications, oil equipment and humanitarian aid sectors.
