The second phase of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Global Fund HIV/ Aids cross-border project is on track. With a budget of $44 million, the project when completed will have established 32 mobile clinics across 12 countries in southern Africa that will all provide basic health services along with all related HIV prevention interventions. During phase one services were provided at 11 of the proposed 32 sites, with one of the major constraints being the accessing of funds. As the project moves forward, one of the lessons learnt is that before a clinic can be established in a country, comprehensive consultations with that country’s stakeholders need to first take place.
