Agoa stats spell success

ALAN PEAT THE AFRICAN Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa) has continued to be a measurable success, according to the latest information just released to FTW by the Trade Law Centre for Southern Africa (tralac). The figures show that, in 2004, Agoa imports to the US - including those falling under the general system of trade preferences (GSP) – were US$26.6-billion (R178.2-bn), an increase of 88% over 2003. Non-oil Agoa imports, meantime, totalled US$3.5-bn (R23.5-bn) - an increase of 22%.
