Africa’s project market the focus for JV company

Conceptum Logistics GMBH, Sturrock Shipping and Conceptum Logistics Africa have joined forces in Africa. According to Asmus Seubert, acting general manager of the JV company Conceptum Logistics Africa, Sturrock Shipping was a natural choice as a partner company for Conceptum that has its headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. Providing project logistics services across the globe, Conceptum Logistics specialises in large, unusual and complex projects and abnormal cargoes. The company’s move into Africa was precipitated by the growing importance of the continent in terms of the demand, particularly from China, for African-sourced commmodities and the associated need to develop large-scale mining and other infrastructural projects in Africa. “Sturrock Shipping, by virtue of its extensive African footprint and reputation for quality service, made them the ideal choice for a partner,” said Seubert. Having established their joint venture and opened an office in Johannesburg earlier this year, they have already received several enquiries from prospective clients in the mining, energy and chemicals sectors. “Amongst a number of projects currently being undertaken by the local office, we are handling the importation of equipment and supplies into South Africa, Zambia and the DRC on behalf of various German and other customers, and the logistical control of a large-scale mining project in West Africa,” he said.
