Africa has ICT lag

Africa continues to lag behind the rest of the world when it comes to the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. According to Celeste Fauconnier, RMB Africa analyst and co-author of Where to Invest in Africa, the focus on tech infrastructure has dropped significantly in recent years. “Five years ago, most of the investment out of all the infrastructure developments in Africa was in the tech sector,” she said. “There was quick acceleration and recognition of the role of tech, but at the same time there was also serious neglect of hard infrastructure such as electricity, ports and roads.”
