Africa acknowledges crucial role of rail

Many African countries have realised the importance of upgrading infrastructure to boost economic growth and are upping their game – especially when it comes to rail. According to Lumkile Mondi of the Industrial Development Corporation, there is a massive shift taking place as the continent recognises that ongoing economic growth is only possible if countries start investing in rail to ensure they are connected across borders. In Nigeria the government is set to roll out some 8000km of railway line. “This is a good sign,” he said.
